U.P.S.C.L. Mission Statement

The UPSCL is a not-for-profit organization devoted to extending the role of chess in the San Mateo County Peninsula scholastic community. UPSCL promotes study and knowledge of the game of chess, for its own sake as an art and enjoyment; and, also as a means for individual development and self improvement.

To these ends, the UPSCL provides a bimonthly newsletter (during the school year), classes throughout the area for instruction, and sponsors a variety of tournaments, both individual and team competitions, including the Annual Peninsula Scholastic Grade-Level Championships every February and a League Open in the Spring.

To achieve our purposes the UPSCL practices a nondiscriminatory policy as to the age, race, belief, gender, national origin, or any other basis, of the participants of our activities.
